Tournaments
The Minnesota Public Golf Association sponsors 6 championships throughout the year each of which appeals to golfers of different ages and abilities.
The Championships are open to amateur players who are members of a men's club that is a member of the Minnesota Public Golf Association (MPGA) and carry an active GHIN handicap.
These championships are as follows:
- Mid Amateur/Low Net championships which will be held on May 19/20.
- The 2012 championships will be held at The Jewel Golf Course in Lake City.
- In order to play in the Mid-Amateur (only), a player must be at least 30 years of age as of May 19, 2012. The MidAm is a gross competition
- The Low Net championship is a net competition which is arranged by handicap range. The 2012 Low Net championship will use a modified stableford format as defined in USGA Rules of golf - rule 32 Stabelford Competitions .
- Players entered in the 2012 Mid-Amateur/Individual Low Net
- Four-Ball championship which will be held on June 16/17.
- The 2012 championship will be held at Rum River Hills Golf Course in Ramsey.
- This championship consists of a Gross competition which is elective and 3 divisions or flights which compete in net competition.
- This championship is played under four-ball rules of the USGA.
- Senior Public Links championship which will be held on July 21/22.
- The 2012 championship will be held at Greenhaven Golf Course in Anoka.
- Players must be at least 50 years of age as of July 21, 2012.
- The Tournament is divided into divisions. The Championship Division will be elective and played at stroke play, no handicap (gross). A 65 and over Championship Division (low gross –no handicap) is elective and is available for players who are 65 years of age and older, if you elect this division you are not eligible to compete in the Championship Division, this is a separate competition from the Championship Division. The remaining three divisions will be established based upon the player’s handicap index and competition will be at net stroke play.
- Match Play championship which will be held on August 3-5.
- The 2012 championship will be held at Albion Ridges Golf Course in Annandale.
- Players must have a GHIN handicap index of 7.5 or less at the time of entry to be eligible to enter this tournament.

Qualifier #1 – Saturday, July 14th – Legends Golf Club – Prior Lake, MN (2:30pm Start)
Qualifier #2 – Sunday, July 15th – Bunker Hills – Coon Rapids, MN (12:15pm Start)
August 3rd Friday am– Round of 64 (2 matches per tee time)/Friday pm– Round of 32 (2 matches per tee time)
August 4th Saturday am– Round of 16 (2 matches per tee time)/Saturday pm– Round of 8 (1 match per tee time)
August 5th Sunday am–Semifinals (1 match per tee time)/Sunday pm– Championship Match
- Public Links championship which will be held on August 18/19.
- The 2012 championship will be held at Ridges at Sand Creek Golf Course in Jordan.
- Players must have a GHIN handicap index of 5.5 or less at the time of entry to be eligible to enter this tournament.
- This championship is a Gross competition.
- Combination championship which will be held on September 15/16.
- The 2012 championship will be held at Bunker Hills in Coon Rapids.
- This competition is a 27 hole competition which consists of 9 holes of best ball which uses four-ball rules, 9 holes of scramble and 9 holes of modified alternate shot.
For junior golfers, the MPGA sponsors the Junior Publinks which is open to golfers from the age of 13 to 18. The Junior Publinks championship will be held on July 23. - The 2012 championship will be held at Keller in St Paul.
- This championship is open to male junior amateur players, ages 13 to 18, on July 23, 2012, who are affiliated with or play substantially all of their golf at a public golf course.
- This competition is a gross competition with divisions of flights slotted by age.
